Today leaders of the NGLCC voiced strong support for yesterday's announcement of William Daley to be President Obama's new chief of staff.

"Bill Daley has served with distinction and understands the challenges faced by America's small- and medium-sized businesses, many of them LGBT-owned or managed," said NGLCC co-founders Justin Nelson and Chance Mitchell in a statement.

Daley, an accomplished businessman and the current Midwest chair of JPMorgan Chase, served as U.S. Secretary of Commerce during President Bill Clinton's Administration and served as chairman for former Vice President Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign.

"Secretary Daley has a long history of fighting for many of the values shared by the NGLCC and America's LGBT business community, most notably, equality for every American and opportunities for businesses to succeed in the marketplace," read the NGLCC statement.

The NGLCC noted that Daley is a strong leader with vast experience that will help the president guide his agenda through a Congress split between a Republican House of Representatives and a Democratic-controlled Senate.

"We look forward to working with Bill Daley, President Obama and other members of the administration as we continue our economic recovery and ensure that LGBT businesses have the tools they need to be successful, create jobs, offer health care and be an integral part of the small business engine that makes our U.S. economy run," concluded the statement.
