The U.S. federal government purchases more than $500 billion in goods and services every year, and at this year's NGLCC National Conference attendees will learn how to best position their business for a piece of the federal pie by becoming a contractor.
With Washington, D.C., the heart of the federal government, as the backdrop for the 2010 NGLCC National Business and Leadership Conference: Out for Business, attendees will have a unique chance to hear from expert panelists on the topics of federal procurement and how to sell to the federal government.
In the "Federal Procurement and Your Business" session, attendees will hear from certified LGBT business owners who have first-hand experience working with the federal government. They will also hear from federal procurement decision makers from the General Services Administration (GSA) and purchasing decision makers from federal agencies. Topics will include how to market to and sustain client relationships with the federal government as an LGBT business enterprise (LGBTBE), and the opportunities that are available to all small business owners.
"These sessions will offer attendees a unique opportunity to learn about doing business with the federal government and how to utilize the great tools that the government has available to business owners looking to grow their businesses through federal contracts and subcontracts," said Justin Nelson, president and co-founder of the NGLCC.
Important information about registering in the government's Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database will be discussed. Attendees will also learn how to connect with small business specialists at each federal agency and how to get on the GSA Schedule to become a preferred vendor.
"Becoming a supplier to the federal government can be a process, but it can be very positive for any small business looking to expand its client base if you are armed with the right information," said Eileen Kessler, an NGLCC-certified business and current supplier to the federal government who will be on the panel at the conference. "The information gained from the NGLCC conference will be invaluable for anyone looking to sell to the federal government."
The National Business and Leadership Conference will be held Nov. 18-20 at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C.
