Whether you're a long-time member of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce® (NGLCC) or new to the NGLCC family, there will be something for everyone at the National Business and Leadership Conference this fall.
The agenda for the 7th annual National Business and Leadership Conference: Out for Business! has been published, and there's an extensive selection of programming for everyone, including business owners, corporate representatives and local chamber leaders.
"The programming offered in this year's conference is so diverse and extensive that everyone will be able to benefit from the information presented and take things away from the conference to their businesses, chambers and corporations that they can use to better the work they do," said Rick Fowler, director of meetings and special events at the NGLCC.
The conference will be held Nov. 18-20, 2010, at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C. This year's National Dinner: An Evening of Courage! will be held in conjunction with the conference on Friday, Nov. 19 at the National Building Museum.
During the conference, business owners who are considering LGBTBE certification, or who have recently become certified, will find several sessions focused on getting the most out of certification and the benefits of being active in NGLCC's Supplier Diversity Initiative.
Several informational sessions will also offer business owners insights into expanding the scope of their relationships with corporate America and the federal government. They will learn the secrets of federal procurement from business leaders who know, and they'll discover how best to work with major corporations in a variety of industries, including tourism and hospitality, financial services, insurance, technology, retail and consumer products, and pharmaceutical.
As a continuation of the first international LGBT trade mission last month, there will be a session on "Going Global" that will focus on global business trends and opportunities. For more on the trade mission to Argentina, see our story here.
Members of the NGLCC Women's Business Initiative (WBI) and others will hear from women leaders in business and politics, who will share their own stories of breaking the lavender-glass ceiling and offer insights into how to succeed in today's competitive world.
In the Council of Chambers and Business Organizations (CCBO) corporate partnerships and strategic growth session, chamber leaders and representatives will discuss strategies for attracting and cultivating relationships with corporations to better serve chamber members.
Chamber leaders will also benefit from a series of sessions on organizational management, in which they will learn about budgeting and finances, risk management and board stewardship.
In a session about supplier diversity and other NGLCC programs designed specifically for affiliate chamber leaders, attendees will explore how they can use the resources and programming offered by the NGLCC to add value to their chambers and increase opportunities and outreach in their own communities.
