President Obama has new neighbors—the NGLCC has moved its offices, and is now across from the White House and the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Looking for a larger space, the new office on 15th Street in northwest Washington, D.C. puts the NGLCC closer to the White House, Capitol Hill and federal agencies, such as the Department of Commerce, which will make it easier to collaborate with these groups on key legislative issues.
"Being closer to Capitol Hill and many federal agencies makes it easier for us to work with them on key LGBT- and business-related issues," said NGLCC president and co-founder, Justin Nelson.
The layout of the new space will also promote optimum performance and growth for the NGLCC internally, according to Felicia Powers, senior manager of office administration and human resources at NGLCC.
When asked if the chamber thought there would be a "welcome to the neighborhood" gift from the White House, Nelson said: "The president did that on Monday when he signed the Small Business Jobs Act into law and made accessing credit easier for America's small businesses a reality."
