With the high demand from business owners asking for more time to submit award applications, the NGLCC and Wells Fargo & Co. are pleased to announce that the deadline to apply for the 2010 LGBT Business Owner of the Year Award has been extended.
All applications and materials must be postmarked by July 16, 2010 to be considered.
"We want to ensure that all businesses interested in applying have adequate time to put together their award applications," said Jeremy Fegley, NGLCC manager-certification specialist.
The NGLCC is excited to offer a host of business development opportunities for applicants for this year's award. All applicants will receive an invitation to a special small business economic briefing by the White House on Nov. 17, followed by a VIP cocktail reception on Capitol Hill that will be attended by members of Congress, representatives of the Obama administration and other LGBT entrepreneurs. Both of the events will precede the 2010 NGLCC Business & Leadership Conference: Out for Business! in Washington, D.C., to which all applicants receive a discounted registration to attend. The Top 20 businesses will be highlighted throughout the conference. All applicants will also have the opportunity to have their business spotlighted on BIZ, the NGLCC's online magazine.
The winning LGBT-owned business and two finalists will be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments on Nov. 19 at the NGLCC National Dinner: An Evening of Courage. The winning business will receive a $5,000 cash grant. The winner and two finalists will also receive a travel incentive provided by Southwest Airlines to be used at a later date.
