
Take pride in your business this LGBT Pride Month by applying to be the 2010 NGLCC/Wells Fargo LGBT Business Owner of the Year by the June 30 deadline.
For the sixth consecutive year, the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce® has teamed up with founding corporate partner, Wells Fargo, to recognize the LGBT community's entrepreneurial spirit and personal service to the community.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for business owners to stand up and be recognized for their outstanding accomplishments," said Justin Nelson, co-founder and president of the NGLCC.
The winning LGBT business owner will receive a $5,000 grant and will be honored, along with two finalists, for their outstanding accomplishments at the NGLCC's 2010 National Dinner: An Evening of Courage at the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 19.
All award applicants will receive an invitation to a special economic briefing at the White House on November 17th followed by a VIP cocktail reception on Capitol Hill with members of Congress and other LGBT business owners.
Businesses will also have the opportunity to be highlighted in BIZ, and will receive a discounted registration to the NGLCC National Business & Leadership Conference: Out for Business! November 18 to 20 in Washington, D.C., which includes a ticket to the NGLCC National Dinner.
All applications must be postmarked June 30, 2010 for consideration.
Previous winners include Joy Silver, president and CEO of Rainbow Vision Properties (2009); Sean and Todd Bavol-Montgomery, Integrity Staffing Solutions (2008); Noma Hanlon, president of Hanlon Brown Design (2007); Bob Witeck and Wes Combs, Witeck-Combs Communications (2006); and Howard Buford, founder and CEO of Prime Access (2005).
"This award is a great way for all of us to celebrate the contributions of LGBT-owned businesses to the community and the U.S. economy," said Shelley Freeman, Wells Fargo regional president for Florida and national spokesperson for the company's LGBT Business Services program.
