Similar to the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, the Index will offer leading international corporations a chance to highlight the good news about diversity inside their organizations while also challenging them to improve their performance on issues concerning LGBT employees, suppliers and consumers.
Chance Mitchell, co-founder and CEO of NGLCC and chairman of the IGLCC Board of Directors, called the Index an important step forward for international companies looking to tout their diversity activities. It also provides the IGLCC with a way to fairly measure successes and challenges. The NGLCC is a founding member of the IGLCC.
"I think the information coming out of this survey will help guide the IGLCC's work with the international business community going forward," said Mitchell. "We need a way to measure the successes we've already had and to detail the challenges we have ahead."
The IGLCC is the membership organization for national LGBT business groups in various countries around the world. There are 16 organizational members representing 14 countries.
Corporations are invited to complete the online survey available on the IGLCC Web site. The survey is specifically designed to evaluate corporations' policies and practices towards their LGBT employees, suppliers and consumers.
Results of the survey will be published annually at the IGLCC's Congress. The Index allows corporations to measure and compare their LGBT policies and thereby determine where these policies and practices need to be adjusted.
This year the IGLCC Congress is being held in conjunction with the World Outgames. The IGLCC was tapped to organize the Out for Business track of the International LGBT Human Rights Conference taking place during the games. The Out for Business track includes workshops on current LGBT business issues, keynote speeches and networking events for national chamber leaders.
