Global Alliance Solutions Leader

IBM Asia Pacific

Michael S. Fuller is Global Alliance Solutions Leader for IBM Asia Pacific, headquartered in Shanghai, China. He leads a highly specialized solution sales team that spans across the entire Asia-Pacific region and includes rapidly expanding markets in China, India, Singapore and other countries experiencing explosive economic development. This tactical team, based in key strategic markets, develops and rolls out IBM solutions focused around large, global software solutions from providers such as SAP, Oracle, CISCO, and other software innovators. These teams orchestrate targeted, fast-tracked solutions that leverage these software assets, and also couple them with IBM hardware, software and consulting and implementation services. Mr. Fuller and his team drive more than $500 million in annual sales for IBM Asia Pacific.

Prior to this current assignment Mr. Fuller developed the initial Alliance and Partner strategies for IBM’s newest Services Business – Managed Business Process Services. He developed, implemented, and evaluated the strategy of key partners in the Business Process Outsourcing landscape. He also directly managed several key global alliances that contributed to hundreds of millions in sales annually.

Prior to this appointment in 2004, Mr. Fuller was Vice President and Global Education Industry Leader in IBM’s Business Consulting Service division of IBM Global Services. IBM Business Consulting Services was formed after the acquisition of PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting. He directed the activities of all of IBM’s consultants who focus on compulsory (K-12) and higher education clients globally. IBM is recognized as a market leader in the Education industry and is a driving force in creating the future of learning.

Prior to his appointment as the Global Education Industry Leader, Mr. Fuller was Vice President and Practice Leader for IBM Business Intelligence Consulting & Services, where he directed more than 1,200 consulting and services professionals, along with a team of 100 principals and services leaders, operating in more than 20 countries worldwide.

IBM is the recognized market leader in business intelligence, one of the computing industry’s most promising and rapidly growing segments. The Business Intelligence team -- which serves clients in finance, government, retail, transportation, distribution, telecommunications, health and other data-intensive industries -- helps executives make strategic, data-driven decisions at all organizational levels.

Business Intelligence Consulting & Services is a unit of Customer Relationship Management Solutions, the IBM Global Services division focused on enhancing clients’ marketing, sales and customer service performance. Mr. Fuller was executive-in-charge for Business Intelligence within IBM Global Services, the world’s largest information technology consulting and services provider, with 2003 revenues of more than $42 billion.

Beginning with a small team in 1989, Mr. Fuller pioneered the company's business intelligence consulting methods, from decision support and executive information systems in the early 1990s through current data warehousing, data mining, real time analytics, and other advanced business decision-making solutions. He also spearheaded initiatives to develop comprehensive global business intelligence knowledge sharing practitioner communities.

Mr. Fuller also was instrumental in realigning the Business Intelligence Consulting & Services practice to focus on clients’ primary industries, rather than on IBM’s areas of technical expertise. Prior to his global assignment, he served as Vice President for Business Intelligence Consulting & Services for the Americas, including operations in the United States, Canada, and Latin America. He personally has led numerous consulting teams serving global clients. Those engagements have included novel business intelligence solutions for a major U.K.-based financial services firm, several international oil corporations, one of the world’s largest apparel manufacturers, and state and national governments in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Immediately prior to joining IBM, Mr. Fuller was President and Managing Partner of The Fuller Group, a management and information systems consulting firm specializing in executive decision sciences. He also was Senior Executive Educational Consultant to a computer-based training solutions developer in Richmond, Virginia.

Preceding and partially overlapping those responsibilities, Mr. Fuller headed Computer Information Systems programs at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, a state-supported Richmond institution, and served as branch manager for American Business Systems, an information systems marketer. He also was Information Center Consultant at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Virginia. Previously, he spent nine years as Computing Division senior staff manager at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Mr. Fuller is a member of the IBM Professional Consulting Certification Board, a frequent speaker at IBM client and partner events, and an active mentor within the IBM consulting & services community. The recipient of numerous academic and professional honors, he holds a degree in finance from Virginia Commonwealth University. He also is a founding Director on the Board of Directors of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in the USA.
