Prior to joinging Apple, Rita Lane was at Motorola where she served as vice president and brand advocate for their integrated supply chain, System X and Storage. In that capacity, she was responsible for driving end-to-end supply chain operational excellence in support of these lines of business, which included brand sourcing decisions, fulfillment management, information-technology transformation, new product introduction, supply-demand balancing and overall cost management. Prior to that post, Lane served as vice president of the integrated supply chain for IBM's xSeries Manufacturing.
Along with her procurement experience, Lane has expertise in a wide array of critical supply-chain functional areas, including engineering, quality, logistics, manufacturing operations and product development. In addition, she has global geographic exposure to Asia, Europe and the Americas, and is known as a leader in supply-chain transformation.
Before joining IBM, Lane served as an officer in the United States Air Force, where she had responsibilities as a Titan satellite launch engineer and Titan electrical systems engineer. Earlier in her career, Lane owned and operated two small businesses.
Lane holds a master of business administration degree from the University of California, Berkeley; a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University; and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy.
