Progam Fellow

The NGLCC is currently seeking a Fellow to support the organization in various programs and initiatives. The Program Fellowship is designed to attract and retain a student or recent graduate for a several month (one to two semesters) fellowship to support the NGLCC programmatic staff. Our goal is to encourage the professional development of a young adult interested in promoting LGBT inclusion within corporate supplier diversity programs and expanding opportunities for LGBT entrepreneurs.

The Program Fellow will:
• Gain understanding of the LGBT business movement, especially in the realm of supplier diversity and corporate procurement
• Meet and interact with corporate partners, LGBT business owners, affiliate chamber leaders, and policy makers.
• Assist in marketing the benefits of program participation to NGLCC constituencies
• Draft correspondence and communications for key audiences
• Schedule appointments for staff/other administrative duties as assigned
• Develop strong knowledge of small business management

Qualifications:
• Strong interpersonal and professional skills
• Willingness to learn about and become engaged in this cutting-edge aspect of the LGBT movement
• Enthusiasm and dedication toward advancing the LGBT movement
• Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
• Demonstrated ability to organize, set and implement priorities, and manage multiple tasks
• Strong computer, writing and phone skills

Details:
• The fellowship is structured to last the duration of one or two university semesters, with flexibility to accommodate academic schedules
• Commitment of at least 35 hours per week desired with a compensation of $1000/month
• Fewer hours will be considered for the right candidate(s)

Communications / Public Relations Internship
The communications / public relations intern position requires proven competency in professional writing and verbal communication. Viable candidates include those that have a vested interest in the business sector and LGBT economic development. Selected candidates will gain exposure to the NGLCC communication strategy as well as involvement in traditional and new media relations.

The incumbent will produce internal and external communications, including writing pitches, press releases, and organizational reports. Skills in media relations, social media strategy, and media monitoring are essential for this position. Knowledge the LGBT community, political advocacy, and current events preferred. Strong candidates will work well under pressure, exemplify mature professional behavior, and be dedicated to a fast-paced work environment. Administrative duties will be assigned as needed.

Affiliate and External Relations Internship

The ideal intern would be:
-Interested in business, economic development, inclusion and equality.
-Organized and focused, able to think strategically and manage and implement projects
-Comfortable and confident in strategic networking situations and able to navigate complex strategic relationship to work in coalition and consortia style environments
-Confident working independently and able to juggle multiple priorities with tight timelines
-Competent on business software and applications (Access is a big plus - or willingness to learn)
This internship role will provide skill development and translatable business/organizational experience and provide opportunities for very high level networking in multiple national organizations and chambers of commerce all over the country.
The selected intern will work directly and closely with the Director and also with the National Chair and Regional Chairs of the NGLCC's Council on Chambers and Business Organizations (CCBO).


Corporate Relations Internship

The Corporate Relations intern will contribute to the development process of new corporate partnerships between the NGLCC and Fortune 500 companies while assisting in the relationship management of current partnerships. Duties will include researching the diversity and inclusion policies and practices of potential corporate partners; tracking news and data related to LGBT inclusion within corporate America; assisting in outreach and follow up with current corporate partners regarding upcoming events, meetings, and opportunities; conducting research for contribution to new corporate partnership programs; producing internal and external correspondence (letters, memos, etc.), and aiding in department record keeping.

Supplier Diversity Internship

The Supplier Diversity Initiative is a unique program, which certifies LGBT-owned businesses and works to connect them with Fortune 500 companies (our Corporate Partners) and other LGBT-owned businesses across the country. The intern will be assigned highly substantive work which will include: Outreach toward certified and potentially certifiable businesses, working with the NGLCC's Corporate Partners to assist in searching our certified supplier database, and the development of policies and procedures for expanding the program. Interns with this program will assist in all aspects of the certification process for LGBT-owned companies and will support the department in presenting business development opportunities to LGBT-owned business.

Meetings & Events Internship

The Events Intern will play a large role in the facilitation of the NGLCC's multiple signature events held throughout the year. Significant duties of this internship include soliciting and tracking silent auction items, coordinating event speakers and sessions, creating marketing materials, list management, outreach to elected officials, and manipulating website information are just a few of the areas that the Events Intern can make an important impact. In addition the Intern will assist the Meetings Department with conducting research, producing and distributing internal and external correspondence, and assisting with general departmental functions. Successful candidates will have a positive attitude, enjoy working with people, successfully multitask, be calm under pressure, express sound judgment and good taste, has strong communication skills, and be willing to put in extra hours during the critical days leading up to an event.
