NGLCC President Working to Strengthen LGBT Business Community in Italy during Historic Nationwide Speaking Tour

For the last week, NGLCC Co-Founder and President Justin Nelson has been on a tour of Italy to strengthen and build support for the Italian LGBT business community. Mr. Nelson was invited to Italy by the U.S. Embassy as part of the Obama Administration’s larger mission to promote LGBT rights abroad. In coordination with the U.S. Embassy, he has taken part in several meetings as well as presented a series of lectures to LGBT leaders, business schools and LGBT youth across Italy. From October 2-4, Nelson spoke and led sessions at the Leaders for Change Convention in Milan, hosted by "Excellence & Diversity GLBT Executives” (EDGE).

NGLCC Global kicked off the fall season in the Dominican Republic, where from September 2nd to 4th the team made significant advances on its project in partnership with the US Agency for International Development and the US Embassy in Santo Domingo. As NGLCC continues to expand its international advocacy efforts around diversity and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT)-owned businesses, the team will begin work in the Caribbean, specifically the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Republic marks the fourth focus country for NGLCC under the LGBT Global Development Partnership, a strategic, public-private partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Wells Fargo, MillerCoors, and other key partners.

Two weeks ago, NGLCC’s 3rd LGBT Summit of the Americas made history in Lima, Peru. Following the inaugural LGBT Summit of the Americas in Colombia in 2012 and last year’s summit in Mexico, NGLCC was pleased to bring the third rendition of the series to Peru’s capital city. The event not only provided an unparalleled opportunity to assemble LGBT business leaders and corporate diversity professionals from across the Americas, but also served as the public launch of NGLCC’s newest international affiliate chamber, the Peruvian GLBT Chamber of Commerce (CCGLPE).
