The National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and Wells Fargo share a commitment to support the needs of LGBT small business owners. NGLCC and Wells Fargo first joined together in 2005 to launch the NGLCC/Wells Fargo LGBT Business Owner of the Year Award, and 2010 will mark the 6th year of the award.

The winner of the award will receive a $5,000 cash grant and be recognized at the NGLCC National Dinner: An Evening of Courage, in Washington, DC.

2009 Award Winner

Joy Silver, President & CEO of Rainbow Vision Properties, Inc.

RainbowVision is a family of companies dedicated to developing and operating communities to serve a growing LGBT and allied supporting population in their "second fifty years." RainbowVision offers a blend of services from dining, fitness center, spa, salon, and lounge -- all surrounding 146 residences of rentals, condominiums and six levels of assisted living care. The company currently operates in Santa Fe, New Mexico with plans for expansion in Palm Springs, California, the California Bay Area region and Vancouver, Canada. RainbowVision founder, Joy Silver, is frequently called upon by LGBT and mainstream organizations to present information on LGBT seniors. Silver also serves as a board member for the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco and is currently a member of LGAIN (Lesbian Gay Aging Issues Network) at the American Society for Aging.

Hanlon Brown Design operates two offices in Oregon and Arizona, and is known for providing design services to some of the world's leading brands. Noma is known for her dedication to nurturing Portland's growing design community, which she helped to pioneer.

Bob Witeck and Wes Combs, Witeck-Combs Communications, Inc.

Based in Washington, D.C., Witeck-Combs Communications, Inc. specializes in developing and implementing effective PR and marketing strategies for the LGBT consumer market. In 2006, Witeck and Combs co-authored Business Inside Out: Capturing Millions of Brand Loyal Gay Consumers (Kaplan Publishing) which is considered to be the first-ever book on marketing insights, practical tips and strategies for the LGBT market

Howard Buford, Founder and CEO, Prime Access, Inc.

Based in New York City, Prime Access, Inc. is a full-service agency focused on advertising and marketing communications for African American, Hispanic, and LGBT consumers. Howard Buford's experience in advertising and marketing communications spans nearly three decades, and he has twice been recognized by OUT Magazine as one of the 100 most influential gay and lesbian people in America.
