“The Race to Become the Next International Business Hub: Opportunities and Challenges for the LGBTI Business Community”
The race to become the next business hub among emerging economies continues as they strive to learn and incorporate inclusive practices within their workforce and supply chains. Nonetheless, emerging economies still lack the tools and resources to fully realize the social and financial benefits of inclusive business growth which is essential to engage and attract international private investment. What struggles do LGBT-owned businesses and chambers of commerce in emerging economies face? How can the private and government sectors have a better understanding of the challenges faced by small and medium size enterprises (SMEs)? What lessons can be drawn from advanced economies to bridge this gap? Will the increasing interest from corporations to invest in up and coming international business hubs encourage more robust diversity and inclusion initiatives across sectors?

“Paving the Way Towards Economic Inclusion Across the World Through Government Initiatives”
What are some of the latest policy developments aiming to protect legal rights, promote economic growth and bring awareness to the socioeconomic challenges the LGBTI community throughout the world? For instance, Uruguay just approved a law that would allow foreigners to marry; Argentina is one of the LAC region champions paving the way for social and economic inclusion to become part of the government’s agenda; earlier this year, Taiwan and Ecuador’s lawmakers passed a bill to recognize same-sex marriage. From the BE’s, government, and civil society perspective, what other government policies will play a key role in promoting economic advancement for the LGBTI community in the future?
