(Washington, DC) On October 1, 2007 the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) and 220 other national, state and local lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) and allied advocacy organizations sent a strong letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi urging the passage of an Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) that includes sexual orientation and gender identity.  “Democratic Congressional leaders vowed to support an ENDA that is fully inclusive of our entire community and we hope that they will stand strong to that commitment,” the organizational leaders wrote in the letter.

“We encourage House Leaders to oppose any legislation that leaves part of our community without the protections and basic security that the rest of us are afforded.  You {Speaker Pelosi} command enormous respect from the community and we look forward to working together to pass a bill we can all be proud to support,” concluded the letter.

The NGLCC is asking its members to contact their Representatives in the U.S. House and encourage them to pass a trans-inclusive ENDA.
