(Washington, DC) Today the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) commemorated the worldwide observance by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and their allies of National Coming Out Day.  “The NGLCC encourages the celebration among the LGBT community to honor the pride of LGBT people everywhere living openly and honestly,” said Justin Nelson, Co-Founder and President of the NGLCC.

Today marks the twentieth anniversary of National Coming Out Day.  Created in observance of the 1987 March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Equality, it was founded in order to continue the legacy of LGBT awareness and equality.

“National Coming Out Day is a day for everyone, including straight friends and allies, to support the LGBT community displaying pride in everyday life.  The NGLCC proudly supports the celebration of National Coming Out Day to increase LGBT visibility and encourage others to ‘come out’,” said Co-Founder and CEO Chance Mitchell.
