(Washington, DC) Today, the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) addressed issues surrounding the Internet Tax Moratorium in correspondence to Congressional Leaders.  The NGLCC pointed out that the Internet has become a crucial tool for business, and that to further regulate or tax that would seriously impede the growth of many of America’s small businesses.

The NGLCC has urged Congress to extend the Internet Tax Moratorium (Internet Tax Freedom Act of 2007 – H.R. 3678) before it is due to expire this November, and the House Judiciary Committee voted today to extend the moratorium on taxation for an additional four years.  “The moratorium has been in place since 1997 and throughout that time, innovation and investment in the Internet has boomed.  Taxing Internet access would undoubtedly have detrimental effects for entrepreneurs and consumers across the country,” stated Justin Nelson, Co-Founder and President of the NGLCC.  “We are pleased the Judiciary Committee voted today and we look forward to working with Congress to see a final bill is sent to the President,” Nelson continued.

The NGLCC is urging its members to weigh in with their members of Congress to extend the Internet Tax Moratorium.
