(Washington, DC) Today, the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) congratulated the U.S. Senate on the unanimous passage of legislation that extends the federal Internet tax moratorium by seven years. “This unanimous consent of the Senate shows the progress and dedication that lawmakers have made towards securing a tax free internet to the benefit of businesses as well as consumers,” said NGLCC co-founder and President, Justin G. Nelson. “The Internet has become a major tool in running many of America’s small businesses,” said Nelson.

“We are pleased that the Senate has passed this bill before its expiration date of November 1, 2007 and we look forward to the Congress sending the President a bill to sign,” said NGLCC co-founder and CEO, Chance Mitchell. “Innovation and investment in the Internet has boomed since the moratorium was first introduced, and it will continue to do so. For this reason our organization stresses the importance of pushing forward with a permanent resolution.”
