(January 30, 2008) Today, the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) announced the launch of NGLCC New York (NGLCCNY): The Tri-State LGBT Chamber and Procurement Council. NGLCCNY will be the NGLCC’s affiliate chamber and regional office in Metro New York City and will provide members with extensive opportunities for business development and education, as well as access to corporate procurement decision makers in the region. “NGLCCNY will help create a climate of growth and success in which all companies regardless of size or industry can prosper. We are pleased to work with local LGBT and allied businesses and corporate leaders to bring this much needed organization to metro New York,” said NGLCC Co-Founder and President Justin Nelson.

"We are excited to work with NGLCCNY to open up the doors of opportunity to metro New York City LGBT owned businesses to become certified. NGLCCNY will ensure area LGBT companies can become a part of corporate America's diverse supply chain," said Irwin Drucker, Program Director for GLBT and International Supplier Diversity at IBM. “The launch of NGLCCNY is an exciting prospect for my business,” said Bernard Whitman, President of Whitman Insight Strategies. “As a certified LGBT Business Enterprise, we will have greater opportunities to access both major corporations and local businesses,” said Whitman.

NGLCCNY will offer several programs and business development opportunities to businesses in the metro New York area, including the Supplier Diversity Initiative for companies that are at least 51% owned and operated by an LGBT person or person. The organization will also host a series of “Make-the-Connection” networking and educational sessions focusing on wide-ranging topics of interest to LGBT business owners, entrepreneurs and Corporate Members. “We are proud to bring NGLCCNY to the Tri-State area to create real, meaningful connections and business opportunities for the community. By leveraging the support, talent and resources of members in the area, NGLCCNY will improve the economic vitality and quality of life for LGBT owned businesses and their allied companies in Corporate America,” said NGLCC Co-Founder and CEO Chance Mitchell.

NGLCCNY will officially launch on February 6, 2008. To learn more about NGLCCNY, please visit www.nglcc.org/nglccny/info.
