Greater Seattle Business Association Seattle, WA

The NGLCC Chamber of the Year Award recognizes one outstanding LGBT chamber or business organization each year that continually stands out for their exceptional efforts and leadership within their community.  The Greater Seattle Business Association (GSBA) Has been a champion for over 30 years in mobilizing and connecting the LGBT Business Community in the Seattle area.  The GSBA has not only been a strong affiliate chamber for the NGLCC, but has provided inspiration and advice to many LGBT chambers that exist today.

NGLCC Corporation of the Year

 Motorola

Motorola will receive the 2008 NGLCC Corporation of the Year Award as a testament to the dedication and strong support they continue to show toward the NGLCC and the LGBT Business Community. As the fourth Founding Corporate Partner of the NGLCC, and as one of the first NGLCC Corporate Partners to participate in the LGBT Supplier Diversity Initiative, Motorola has been extremely active in supporting NGLCC initiatives and LGBT businesses. A serious commitment to including certified LGBT owned businesses in their supply chain has made Motorola a leading company for LGBT supplier diversity. Motorola representatives have been engaged voices of leadership through membership on the NGLCC Board of Directors, NGLCC Procurement Council, and the NGLCC Corporate Advisory Council. In addition, Motorola has maintained a perfect score of 100 on the HRC Corporate Equality Index and has been named a LGBT "Best Place to Work" for four consecutive years.

Courage in Business Award

Fred P. Hocberg
Fred P. Hochberg was recently named to out.com’s Power 50 and continues to be one of the most powerful and visible out business people in the United States. Fred served as the Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration under President Clinton and is currently the Dean of the New School’s Robert J. Milano Graduate School of Management and Urban Policy. In August 2008, Fred was named to the New York Port Authority Board of Directors by Governor David Paterson (D-NY), and currently heads the Obama Campaign’s Small Business Policy Advisory Committee.

Supplier Diversity Advocate of the Year Award

Theresa Harrison
Theresa Harrison is the Director of Supplier Diversity for Ernst & Young. Through her participation on the NGLCC Procurement Council and her numerous presentations on LGBT supplier diversity, Theresa has established herself as a highly-regarded mentor within the supplier diversity arena and as a leading advocate for LGBT inclusion. Theresa has also championed LGBT supplier diversity by fostering connections between the NGLCC and other organizations, including the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and Diversity Information Resources. Under Theresa’s leadership, the Ernst & Young Supplier Diversity program has created innovative supplier development and educational opportunities to help diverse businesses succeed. Theresa’s dedication to education and inclusion is remarkable and a tremendous benefit to the LGBT business community. This will be the second year we have recognized a Supplier Diversity Advocate of the Year.

NGLCC/American Airlines ExtrAA Mile Award

 

Cynthia Wade

Cynthia Wade is an Academy Award Winning NYC-based Documentary Filmmaker.  Her documentary Freeheld won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject in 2008.  It also won a Special Jury Prize at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, as well as thirteen other awards worldwide.  Her award-winning HBO documentary Shelter Dogs was broadcast in seven countries.  Wade directed the 1999 Cinemax Reel Life documentary Grist For The Mill, which The Hollywood Reporter called “a delight…full of quirky moments and clever humor” and Variety called “a jewel … extremely comical.”  She was co-producer and principal verite cinematographer for the 1998 PBS documentary Taken In: The Lives of America's Foster Children, which won a duPont-Columbia Award for Excellence in Journalism.  Wade has been a Director of Photography for PBS, HBO/Cinemax, Bravo, AMC, MTV, A&E, Discovery, TNT, Oxygen, LOGO and The History Channel. She received a BA cum laude from Smith College and an MA in Documentary Film Production from Stanford University. Wade runs a video production company and teaches advanced digital cinematography at the New School.  She lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
