NGLCC Endorses Jonathan Lovitz for PA House
For Immediate Release
May 4, 2022 | Philadelphia, PA – Justin Nelson & Chance Mitchell, Co-Founders of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), today announced their organization’s historic endorsement of public policy champion Jonathan Lovitz to be the next State Representative for District 182, serving Philadelphia.
"Jonathan Lovitz has helped so many communities achieve success and equity by fighting for pro-equality, pro-business laws and policies across Pennsylvania – and America. He is highly skilled at building coalitions in support of the common good; something our politics needs more than ever. He's ready to lead on day one, and the people of Philadelphia will be lucky to have him fighting for them in Harrisburg. Now, more than ever, we must support candidates for public office that will move forward legislation to protect and empower all our diverse communities,” said Justin Nelson, Co-Founder & President of the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce.
The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the business voice of the LGBT community, is the only national advocacy organization dedicated to expanding economic opportunities for the LGBT business community’s 1.4 million entrepreneurs and their $1.7 trillion impact in the United States.
With connections and skills honed at NGLCC, Jonathan won’t need on-the-job training when he gets to Harrisburg. In the last six years he has been responsible for helping NGLCC write and pass more than twenty-five bipartisan state and local laws, including three in Pennsylvania, opening up billions of dollars in contracts and economic development to small business owners, including minorities, veterans, those with disabilities, and LGBTQ-owned entrepreneurs. Constituent services and community engagement were critical parts of Lovitz’s work at the NGLCC, further preparing him to be the best public servant to his neighbors.
In 2016, Lovitz worked with Governor Tom Wolf’s team to recognize LGBT-owned and Disabled-owned businesses as small diverse businesses (SDBs) as part of a larger initiative to make significant policy and procedural changes in the commonwealth’s approach to awarding competitive contracts for goods and services. That was followed by his work on successful policy wins to expand procurement and economic development programs in cities and municipal agencies throughout Pennsylvania. Lovitz recently assisted the African American Chamber of Commerce of PA, NJ, and DE, the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia, the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Independence Business Alliance (Greater Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce) to establish a Diverse Chambers Coalition of Philadelphia, mirroring the National Business Inclusion Consortium (NBIC).
